How to Receive God’s Gift of Eternal Life How can one come to give His life to Jesus Christ? How do we receive this wonderful gift of eternal life? The process is simple but the results are profound! The first thing is that we must understand that there are laws the govern the spiritual relationship we are to have with God, much like there are laws that govern the physical universe. Let me explain some of these spiritual laws to you! LAW ONE :God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. GOD’S LOVE You must believe that God loves you with an unconditional love. It does not matter what we have done he still loves us. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.Now keep in mind that I must do more than just know about the love of God, I must believe that it is for me personally! The problem with many people is that they have heard of God’s love but they have never personally experienced that love. GOD’S PLAN You also need to know and experience his plan for your life. John 10:10 I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.Well God loves you and has a plan for your life, but what stops us from experiencing this love and plan? That leads to law # 2. LAW TWO: Man is sinful and separated from God MAN IS SINFUL Man was created to have fellowship with God. At creation Adam and Eve enjoyed a relationship with God. When they decided to disobey God and go their own way that relationship was broken. And now all men are born out of fellowship with God and in need of restoration. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,MAN IS SEPARATED Because of our condition at birth a great gulf separates God and us. Through our own efforts we can never reach him and be restored to fellowship with him. No matter what we do we cannot save ourselves. We cannot earn our way to heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; {9} not as a result of works, that no one should boast.LAW THREE: Jesus Christ died in our place Jesus Christ is the ONLY provision for man’s sin. It is through him that you can know and experience God’s love and plan for your life. God has bridged the gulf that separates us from Him by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for in our place, thereby paying the penalty for our sins. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. 1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;LAW FOUR We must each individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Receiving Christ means that we have to turn to Him. We must be willing to relinquish our sin and surrender to Him all the rights of our life. Then, in an act of faith, we invite Jesus Christ to take over the control of our life. If you mean this with all your heart he has promised to become Lord of your life. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,When we receive Christ we experience new birth. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."God wants you to keep on GROWING! This is just the beginning of a new journey. You have begun walking the most thrilling life of all, a life serving the Lord Jesus Christ. However, God has so much more in store for you. His desire is that you continue in your new found faith.
